Has there really been 13 Zombies!!! games? And this is their first time on Kickstarter? Where have you guys been?
ZOMBIES!!! 13 Defcon Z
There’s a lot to love about the Zombies!!! franchise. It’s easy to learn, it’s got zombies, and there are a ton of expansions to change the way you play. So the fact that they’ve got a new expansion coming out is pretty exciting already. The most exciting part is that you can get your face drawn onto a card. I think there are some other exciting parts to this expansion but to be honest it’s kind of hard to decipher. There is a ton of text over on the right under each pledge level but I think they could have found a better way to show it in the main body of the project page. Don’t they have a graphic designer working for them on this game? Looking at this page from the perspective of someone just cruising around KS looking for something to pledge toward they’re going to have to do a lot of reading to figure out what this expansion is about and then they’re probably going to have to go to another site to read up on the Zombies!!! franchise to see what the game is about since there’s not a lot about how the game works here. The video is funny and kind of explains toward the end what the expansion is all about but you still have to go through and read each pledge level very carefully. I really like the Zombies!!! games but I would probably just wait until this game shows up in my local game store. There’s just not enough here to explain the project unless you’re a super hardcore fan who’s been waiting for their chance to get into the game. I’m pretty sure they’ll get their goal since the series has been around for ever and with zombies attached to a project there’s always a chance to get more than the goal. I just think this project could have done a lot more to reach out to new players and explain to them what the game is about. There is a lot of competition on Kickstarter and if your page requires a lot of research to figure out what’s going on then a backer is just going to move onto the next project.
• Part of the Zombies!!! franchise, always good for an easy to teach game with your friends.
• It’s got zombies in it, those are popular, right?
• Get yourself drawn into the game and guide the development of some other game elements!
• Awesome video if you’ve played the game.
• A lot of dry text to read through to figure out what’s going on.
• No gameplay and not much in the way of existing cards shown makes it hard for newcomers to get onboard.
